Setel is Malaysia's first fuel e-payment solution. It is a mobile payment solution from Petronas that allows you to pay for petrol with your smartphone.
Setel is launched in July 2018. It was born from the observation of customers' pain points such as walking to cashier, the long queues at the payment counter, leaving children unattended in the car while making payments at the counter, the RM200 pre-authorisation hold from using credit/debit cards, malfunctioned credit card terminal and having to use a separate card to earn loyalty points. Setel eradicates these pain points and integrates payment and loyalty benefits in a seamless and frictionless experience.
Setel is a great payment alternative to cash and credit/debit card. You can top up using your credit/debit card, or via online banking from as low as RM1.
To make a payment, just launch the app upon arriving at the Petronas station, select the pump number and the amount of petrol that you wish to purchase. There’s also a full tank option and the app will charge accordingly based on the final amount.
You can use your face or fingerprint to authenticate your payment. This feature eliminates the need to key in your 6-digit PIN in order to start refuelling. If you’re using an iPhone model that supports Face ID, you can enable Face ID. For older iPhone and other Android devices, it also supports fingerprint authentication. To enable this feature, just go to Settings and then tap on Security.
The whole experience is seamless as you can authorise the pump while you’re in the car. Once that’s done, you can step out to refuel immediately without the need of queuing up to pay by cash or to slot in your credit/debit card on the pump’s terminal.
Setel is integrated with the Petronas Mesra loyalty programme in which allowing customers to earn Mesra points from each transaction without having to swipe the Mesra card physically.
At the moment, Setel is supported at all Petronas stations throughout the Klang Valley. It will expand to cover all Petronas stations nationwide soon.

Step 1 - Download Setel and register your account
⮞ For new users only.
⮞ When signing up with Setel, remember to enter the referral code uqfvu and you will get FREE Credit of RM 5 when you purchase a minimum RM30 worth of fuel at Petronas stations.
Step 2 - Use Setel 3 times to purchase fuel at any Petronas stations within 30 days of your Setel account registration
⮞ 10% fuel cashback is only applicable when a user purchases fuel using Setel 3 times within 30 days of Setel account registration.
Step 3 - The first 3 fuel transactions have to sum up to minimum RM90
⮞ Maximum cashback capped at RM15 per user.
⮞ Cashback will be credited into account after 3 working days.
⮞ Example 1: Lisa performed 3 fuel transactions via Setel worth RM20, RM25 and RM45, which totalled up to RM90. She receives RM9 fuel cashback on her Setel app.
⮞ Example 2: Kelvin performed 3 fuel transactions via Setel worth RM100, RM50 and RM70, which totalled up to RM220. He receives RM15 fuel cashback on his Setel app.
Now you can redeem your Mesra points on the Setel app and convert it into Setel wallet balance for fuel purchases at Petronas. This offers the flexibility for users to convert their existing points into credits for fuel redemption at Petronas stations.

Step 1 - Tap on "Rewards" then "Activate Card"
Step 2 - Entering your IC number to link your Mesra card to your Setel account
Step 3 - Tap on "Redeem" and slide to redeem your preferred amount via Setel
Note: 1 litre of fuel = 3 points and 100 points = RM1.00
Euro 5 Diesel is a fuel using by turbo-diesel powered vehicle however this fuel type isn’t widely available and finding a petrol station that has it can be challenging. Now there’s an easier way to locate your nearest Euro 5 Diesel pump using the Setel.
With this feature, you can filter by selecting Petronas Dynamic Diesel Euro 5 from the list. The stations with your selected fuel will be shown on the map or alternatively, there’s also list view which is sorted based on distance.
If you tap on the name of the station, you can navigate directly using Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze. The filter feature can also be used to locate your nearest Petronas station with an ATM, surau, car spa, baby room or even renowned food and beverage outlets such as KFC, McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, A&W, Subway, Burger King, and Starbucks.
Step 1 🠆 When you launch Setel, it will display a map with the nearest Petronas station. The "Purchase Petrol" option is only enabled if you’re within the vicinity of a supported Petronas station.
Step 2 🠆 Select the pump number your car is currently at, and choose either full tank or a preset amount. A 6-digit PIN is required to authorise the payment. Once that’s done, kindly wait for the confirmation that the pump is authorised and then you can start refuelling.
Note:
⮞ There is no physical receipt will be issued. Instead, digital receipts can be viewed in-app and also automatically email to you.
⮞ Perform the above steps inside your vehicle and leave your mobile phone in the vehicle at all times as a safe practice.
