1. What is AirAsia Freedom Flyer Programme?
Freedom Flyer Programme is the loyalty programme of AirAsia, that is designed to reward AirAsia's members for flying with AirAsia. There are 4 status in the programme – Red, Gold, Platinum and Black, each offering its members a wide range of rewards and privileges (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
2. What Is the Benefit of Joining the Frequent Flyer Programme?
You will earn BIG Points based on the amount spend instead of the distance traveled. The more you spend on your ticket, the more BIG Points you will earn. Table below illustrates how you can earn BIG Points based on 4 different membership status of the newly launched AirAsia Freedom Flyer Programme (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
The table below indicates the required Qualifying Flown Sector for each of the membership status (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
One way flight operated by AK, FD, QZ, Z2, I5 and XT are counted as one (1) flown sector, while one way flight operated by D7 and XJ, including fly through is counted as two (2) flown sectors. A few exceptions may apply to carrier code D7 and XT flights (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
5. How Can I Upgrade My Membership Status?
Once you have accumulated the Qualifying Flown Sectors required, you will be upgraded automatically the next month. You will enjoy your new status until AirAsia reviews it at the end of your membership year (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
6. When Will My Membership Status Be Reviewed?
If you are not a co-brand cardholder, your membership status will be reviewed at the end of the calendar year. The review will be based on your Qualifying Flown Sectors within the membership year (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
If you are a co-brand cardholder, you are required to meet the relevant Bank’s and Airline’s minimum spend criteria as stipulated in table below or accumulate a minimum of 24 Qualifying Flown Sectors during the membership year to continue to enjoy the benefits of Platinum status (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
BIG Points are earned through flying with AirAsia and purchases made with our non airline partners. BIG Points can be used for the redemption of tickets and non-flight related vouchers (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
Qualifying Flown Sectors can only be earned when flying with AirAsia except for tickets that were redeemed with BIG Points. The total Qualifying Flown Sectors earned also determines your membership status. At the start of a new membership year, your Qualifying Flown Sectors count will be reset to zero (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
8. Is There an Annual Membership Renewal Fee?
No, membership is free and members do not need to pay annual membership fee (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
9. What Is BIG Member ID?
BIG Member is the unique reference or ID number assigned to each member to earn BIG Points (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
10. Will My BIG Points Expire?
BIG Points will remain valid as long as you have at least one earning or redemption transaction every 36 months (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
In addition to the general validity period of 36 months as stated above, BIG Points may also be awarded with a different validity period as determined by us under specific promotions/campaigns (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
11. What Happens if I Do Not Have Any Earning or Redemption Activity in the Past 36 Months?
Your BIG Points will expire and the total balance will be forfeited. Any forfeited points will not be reinstated (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
12. I Have More Than 1 Account. How Do Consolidate All My Accounts Into One Account?
You can merge your duplicate account(s) into one account. BIG Points will be transferred from your duplicate account(s) to your preferred account. Merging of accounts is final and cannot be reversed. Once your accounts are merged, you can only login to your preferred account to redeem your BIG Points (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
13. What Is My FFP Membership Status if I Have an AirAsia Co-brand Card?
You will be automatically upgraded to Platinum status upon approval of your card (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
14. When My Status Will Be Reviewed?
Your status will be reviewed on your co-brand card's anniversary date (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
15. What Will Happen to My Membership/FFP Status if I Terminate My AirAsia Co-brand Card?
Your BIG membership will still be active. However, your FFP status will be reviewed based on your transactions for the past 12 months. Status will be maintained if criteria was met, or status will be changed to Red or Gold based on the Qualifying Flown Sectors achieved (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
16. How Do I Earn BIG Points When I Fly With AirAsia?
You must add your BIG Member ID when you book your flight. BIG Points will be automatically credited into your account within 5 days after your flight departure date (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
17. How Do I Add My Big Member ID to an Existing Flight Booking?
You can add your BIG Member ID to an existing flight booking by following the steps below (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
a. Login to your account & select ‘MY BOOKINGS’

d. Type in your BIG Member ID
Note : If your Given name and Family name in your account and flight booking is not an exact match, you will not be able to add your member ID (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
18. Can I Earn BIG Points if I Didn’t Board the Flight?
Yes, you will earn BIG Points but that flight will not be considered as a Qualifying Flight for your annual membership status review (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
19. Can I Earn BIG Points When I Travel on Flights That Were Redeemed With BIG Points?
No, a flight ticket that was redeemed with BIG Points is not eligible to earn BIG Points and will not be considered as a Qualifying Flight for your annual membership status review (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
20. When Are BIG Points Credited Into My Account?
BIG Points are credited within 5 days after the flight departure date provided you have added your BIG Member ID into the booking (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
If you have booked your flight and forgotten to add your BIG Member ID, you can still add your BIG Member ID via Manage My Bookings before flight departure date, following the steps below (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).

25. Can I Redeem BIG Points for Add-On Services?

BIG Points that have been redeemed are non-refundable. If you opt for a credit refund, the value of the fare (for the flight that has been cancelled by AirAsia) will be refunded as a 'credit shell' credited to your AirAsia account (under www.airasia.com) which you can use within 90 days from the date of issuance to book other AirAsia flights (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
29. What Is BIG Points Top-Up?

If you do not have enough BIG Points to redeem a flight, you can conveniently buy BIG Points as a top-up so there is nothing stopping you to redeem flights to anywhere you desire. This feature also allows you to fully maximise the value of your BIG Points because, on top of your flight, taxes and airport fees can now be redeemed with BIG Points as well (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
31. What Is the Minimum BIG Points Required for Flight Redemption?
A minimum of 500 BIG Points is required to redeem a one-way flight and 1,000 BIG Points for a return flight (BIG Loyalty, n.d.).
32. What if I Do Not Have 500 BIG Points to Redeem a Flight?
