Hotels.com is the world leading provider of hotel accommodation, offering booking services through its own network of localised websites and telephone call centres.
Hotels.com users can quickly and efficiently search for hotels and compare price, quality, rating, location, amenities and availability in real time. Hotels.com offers customers the best value for their hotel, and with Price Guarantee, if you find a cheaper price elsewhere, Hotels.com will match it.
It has 85 local websites in 35 languages, and lists over 325,000 hotels in approximately 19,000 locations. It is operated by Hotels.com LP, a limited partnership located in Dallas, Texas, in the United States.
Hotels.com was established in 1991 by David Litman and Robert Diener as the Hotel Reservations Network (HRN), providing hotel booking via a toll-free phone number in the United States. In 2001, it became part of Expedia Inc, the online travel booking company. After buying the domain name for approximately US$11m, HRN changed its name in 2002 to Hotels.com and launched the offline brand 1-800-2-Hotels as well as allowing hotel bookings online.

Get a refund for the difference in price when you find a cheaper rate elsewhere.
Hotels.com check thousands of prices each day to make sure they offer you the best deals, but should you find a cheaper rate elsewhere, they will refund the difference to your original payment method or by giving you a coupon, depending on whether the booking you made on the Hotels.com website was refundable or non-refundable.
The stay being offered at the cheaper rate must have the same hotel name and location, room type, dates, occupancy and cancellation policy, while you will need to submit a claim before midnight local time the day before your stay. To submit a claim, visit the Price Guarantee page of the website, choose 'Ask us to match the price', fill in the information and press 'Go'.
If it is a non-refundable booking, you will be sent a coupon for the price difference, which can be used on a future booking. For refundable bookings, if the lower price was found on a competitor's website, they will refund the difference to your original payment method, while if a lower price is found on Hotels.com, you will need to re-book before submitting your claim. They will then validate the lower price and give you a refund.
Hotels.com Rewards
Hotels.com has a loyalty program named Hotels.com Rewards. It allows customers to claim discounts on most hotels, regardless of hotel chain or type. For every 10 nights stayed at hotels booked with hotels.com, customers can claim a price reduction on a subsequent booking. This reduction is equivalent to the average amount paid for those nights. The reduction does not reduce taxes and fees payments and the accumulated nights are limited to 12 months only.
You may choose how you collect 10 nights. Whether it’s a single stay or multiple trips, 10 nights add up fast. You may collect nights at over 297,000 properties around the world. The value of your free night is the average price of the 10 nights you collect. If you choose a room which costs more than the average, you will need to pay the difference when you book online.
You cannot collect or redeem nights when you book your hotel using a discount coupon or if you are making a package booking.
Redemption of your free nights could be done at over 213,000 properties ranging from major hotel chains and beach resorts to boutiques, villas and apartments anytime, anywhere.
Furthermore, you can redeem multiple free nights when you book a multiple-night stay. For example, if you’re booking a 7-night stay and have 5 free nights to redeem, you can use all of your free nights in the same booking and pay for only 2 nights, plus taxes and fees.
If you sign up to Hotels.com Rewards, you can unlock Secret Prices, which will give you hotel discounts of up to 50% off at thousands of properties and which are not available to everyone. Not only will you save when making a hotel reservation, but you can also collect nights when you stay at your chosen property.
Frequent travelers can move up into the Silver or Gold levels of the rewards program. To become a Silver member, you just need to stay 10 nights a year meanwhile Gold membership requires you to stay 30 nights a year. A membership year runs for a year from the day you first created an Hotels.com Rewards account to each anniversary after that.

Starting 2004, Hotels.com has published a twice-yearly review of international hotel room price trends called the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index based on the prices paid per room by its customers using a weighted average based on the number of rooms sold in each of the markets in which it operates.
Information includes notable price changes and comparisons between destinations, hotel types, and other price-related analyses for the previous six months. The index format allows Hotels.com to highlight year-over-year variations in actual prices paid per night by travelers without foreign exchange fluctuations distorting the picture.
